Feedback has finally started to trickle in for "Going Under," much to my relief. I've been spoiled by the HP fandom and its enormous readership pool. Even the obscure pairings and characters there earn double-digit reviews if they are well-written. Not so in CSI: NY fen, which is minute in comparison. As far as I can tell, it's small even in relation to the other CSI fen. Also, since the ratio of male to female officers is so skewed, slash dominates. Add to that the fact that Flack is a B-list character, and I'll be happy and lucky to hit twenty reviews between the 4 sites on which I posted the story.

In other ficcing news, George Weasley is still crouching behind the wardrobe in the Room of Requirement and snarking with the Sorting Hat. Elsewhere, Rebecca Flack nee Stanhope and Don are getting up to carnal shenanigans in their New York apartment, or at least, that's what Detective Flack is aiming for. Back in Vegas, Greg Sanders is huddled in the CSI breakroom with the weight of the world on his shoulders, and Captain Brass has the unenviable task of asking familiar but terrible questions.

Last night, I was flipping channels and stumbled across The Two Towers on TNT. I was sucked in all over again, and even though I've seen it three dozen times, I still cheered the march of the Ents and wibbled as Eomer and the Rohirrim charged down the hillside to Theoden's aid. Damn you, Peter Jackson.

Actually, bless you, Peter, for making movies that make us believe in magic, and if the previews for King Kong are any indication, you're about to do it all over again. Bless your imagination and your hairy hobbit feet and the childlike joy you take in the world around you.
