I pounded out a thousand words of Sprache XXI last night. If I'm lucky, I'll finish it tonight. If so, then I can gussy up my Flacknum opus in preparation for posting. It looks like Fictional!Richard might be the one to kick off the new year, a fact I'm sure pleases him mightily.
Immediate plans for the new year:
-finish reading Clash of Kings
-find a way to balance writing and reading. Right now, writing monopolizes much of my time, and there are so many books I'm itching to read on my to-read pile.
Confession: I'm tempted to write my Haldirfic and either never post it or post it under flock. I'm not going to because I firmly believe that if you've the conviction to write fic, then you should have the courage to put it up for public scrutiny and comment, be it good or ill, but part of me is dreading the pique of the Tolkien purists and the sniffy, imperious know-it-alls(of whom I have been both member and target)who loftily declare that they would never write such puffery and would certainly never lower themselves to reading it. It's ridiculous to worry about them because worry is not an asshole prophylactic, alas, but a snippy, how-dare-you-sully-my-sainted-canon review can put an unpleasant bump in your day if you find it lurking in your inbox.
