We just got home from Judge Dredd. It was so, so much better than the original and its plot of, "Oh, NOES! Judge Dredd has been wrongly accused by corrupt officials!" Two judges trapped in a high-rise and pursued by a bloodthirsty gang of drug dealers makes for some marvelous urban warfare and bang-bang-shoot-'em-up spectacle. Was it sublime cinema? No, but it was stupid, popcorn fun, which is what I wanted from it.
And there was Karl Urban. Unnghh. Pure voice porn.
After seeing the bandom sink into its post-tour torpor, it's good to see Rammfen getting excited at the rumor/announcement that Rammstein would be embarking on a European festival tour in the summer, including a co-headlining show at the Download Festival. There was also the feverish hope that they'd do another North American jaunt in 2014, but I just don't see it. They've been grinding for a long time, and they've got to rest and tend their personal gardens sometime. If it happens, I'll be there with bells on, but I'm not banking on it.
It's amazing how far their profile has risen since they parted ways with their former management. I've no doubt that they're hitting a creative peak, but I can't help but wonder just how bungling or misguided Emu's management was if they took off like a rocket the second he left. Whatever the reason, no one can deny they've busted ass for their current success, and I hope they revel in it.
