Does anyone else remember when Neil Gaiman's blog was about Neil Gaiman and not how super awesome keen and special Amanda Palmer is? I miss those days. I rue the day he enmeshed his professional life with hers.

The well pump saga has, at long last, come to a close. The utility company finally showed up on Thursday to move the meter, and the electrician turned up at the asscrack of Friday to collect his copper wire. Bless him, but he was apologetic for rousing us so early. We were just glad to see the matter resolved, so Roomie just grunted companionably at him and came back to bed as soon as he was finished.

Anyone have any good horror book recs? I'm getting tired of reading about feisty female medical examiners and forensic anthropologists wronged, wronged, wronged by powerful men who will stop at nothing to keep them from exposing [insert sordid truth here]. Would it kill writers to have a case where everyone, even the powerful people with dongs and scads of money, worked to find the truth? Hell, make the case that of an old or historic mystery, like, say, a mass grave at Jamestown(the city of Pilgrims, not the site of the infamous massacre, oh, no). Or maybe a mystery set during the lost Roanoke colony. What happened to the settlers? Why did they vanish? Anything but "Oh, noes, a rich politician wants to bury the sins of his past and will stop at nothing to discredit me, but I'm so dogged that I won't stop. I will, however, piss and bitch that all my friends and colleagues are spineless weenies and angst over which love interest to fuck." It's so trite.
