I have a Dreamwidth account because [livejournal.com profile] niamh_sage gave me one. I'm not sure I'll use it for much more than cybersquatting fic storage in case of a future LJ morality meltdown, but drop me a line if you wish to be added to my circle.

To be honest, I don't see what the fuss is about aside from the fact that it's The Next Big Internet Deal. It's Livejournal with crappy-looking tags stapled onto the end of my posts like a leprous strap-on, and for some odd reason, the pages are wider than my seventeen-inch screen. Consequently, I end up typing blind for several words before the characters reappear in a game of letter Apparition. I suppose Mr. Potter has tried his hand at Muggle software development. And no, I won't be mucking about with my monitor's resolution to accommodate one website with a case of the bloat.

I saw Star Trek yesterday. I'm not a Trekkie; I'm a fan, but I'm not so dedicated a zealot that I could tell you the name of the episode in which Kirk stubbed his toe on the coffee table at three in the morning while heading to the bathroom after laying the wood to Nurse Chapel so Spock could get his green-blooded rocks off with Vulcan mind-meld pornovision. I like TOS series' crew and have fond childhood memories of watching reruns on a TV set the size of a UPS truck. And if you're interested, Bones was my favorite, the cantankerous old goat.

Anyway, I ponied up to see the reboot, and I'm glad I did. Everyone turned in a bravura performance, staying true to the essence of the characters while making them their own. Zachary Quinto's Spock and Karl Urban's Bones were particularly wonderful(Oh, God, the scene with Bones jabbing Kirk in the back of the neck with hypos while Kirk bellowed at him to stop it, stop it, Bones, was hilarious. "Your tongue is swollen? I can fix that." ~jab jab~ LOL.), and Chekov was adorable.

Bones: How old are you?

Chekov: Sewenteen(No, that's not a typo; it's what he said.)

Bones: Oh, good, he's seventeen.

Karl Urban sarcasm FTW.

Just a fun, fun, popcorn movie, and I'd gladly see it again.
