As most LJers and members of fen already know, Fanlib is a corporate-driven site that is, in essence, attempting to use fans as an open-source think tank for marketing ideas, show ideas, plot ideas, et al. In other words, they want to mine the fannish collective for anything of value. What do the fans get in return? A t-shirt and zero protection should the copyright holder of the source material decide the fans' work is damaging or offensive. The suits use the fans as dray horses and cannon fodder and reap all the benefits.
