Stupid n00b question time: Can you unplug a laptop's AC adapter from the laptop while the laptop is on? The last time I has a Toshiba laptop in the hoary old days of 1996, you could disconnect the power cord at will with no ill effects, but I also know that technology has changed and become more fragile in the intervening years(back in my day, laptops were tough, I tell you. You could pound stakes with them and then do your taxes and your Civ homework.), and I don't want to lobotomize him in an attempt to save him from thunderstorms.

The fair starts tomorrow. The fair is my favorite time of year here in Endstage Mayberry. I have no use for the carnival midway, but I love the food booths and could happily eat my way through the round. I love the Polish sausages and the funnel cakes and the smoked mullet shack. I used to love the candied apples, but they play havoc with my dental work, so much like Tootsie Rolls, they've fallen out of favor. Unfortunately for me, money is tight, and so I'll likely have to wait until next week to go, if at all. I could raid the Rammstein fund, but I'm reluctant to do so even if it's becoming excruciatingly clear that they're not coming this tour.

I would talk about the spirited discussion taking place on [livejournal.com profile] rammstein_pimp about a recent RZK interview wherein he discussed the reasons behind the group's absence from America, but frankly, it's like beating a dead horse. I'm tired of the band blaming the fans, and I'm tired of the smug, holier-than-thou condescension radiating from the fans who've been privileged enough to see them and to afford to fly to Germany to do so, and who proclaim that they're so sophisticated and above it all because they've "grown out of their entitles phase".

Fuck you. It's not entitled to want a little honesty. Yes, I want to see them live, but what I really want is for them to stop jerking U.S. fans around.

Rammstein has paid lip service to coming here for years now, but they haven't done so, nor have they made any effort to nurture the fanbase here. These facts are not in dispute. Therefore, the fans are well within their rights to call them on the bullshit. If the band doesn't get to decide where they play, then they need to say so instead of making promises they might be unable to keep. If they cannot afford to tour here, then they need to say so instead of shifting the blame onto the fans for not being devoted enough to a band that has given them scant reason to be loyal. If they don't know about the touring plans, then they need to say, "I don't know" instead of "We're planning U.S. dates for September October November or December. "I don't know" is honest. The other is asshole in any language.

Now I'm going to put down my stick and find more productive things to do with my energy.
