Trying to watch The Exorcist series, but I just can't bring myself to care about any of these people except poor Henry, the addled dad, and since he's a third-tier character at best, there's not much incentive to burn through the episodes. It was a mistake to center so much of the plot on Father Tomas. He's a decent guy, but sadsack, conflicted milquetoasts don't make for compelling TV. I don't give a rip about his sad, adolescent boner feelings for a married woman, and he's embarrassingly overshadowed by the bitter, grotty charisma of Father Marcus, who comes with a tragic backstory and a boatload of Irish guilt over the death of a mother who resented him. Methinks the show would have been better served if Father Marcus had been the one to shoulder the narrative burden, and Father Tomas had been the defrocked priest on the periphery of the story.

And the demonic conspiracy is straight out of a rejected Supernaturnal S5 episode. In fact, SPN would do it better.
