Since it's a surety that there will be no Karl Urban this year, Dragoncon announcements have been less fraught with anticipation than in previous years. There are a handful of nice guests--Robert Englund, Mark Sheppard, and Mark Pellegrino--but none that truly blows my skirt skyward. Good for my budget, I guess. I want to get Englund's because Freddy was seminal to my love of horror as a kid, and I have morbidly fond memories of being scared shitless of the original Nightmare on Elm Street as a kid and rationalizing myself to sleep with the reminder that Elm Street was in Ohio, which was far away, and that no one was going to give a guy like Freddy a ride. There's still time yet, but right now, it looks like it might be a light year for signatures.
Roomie and I have plans to watch Christopher Robin tonight, so I want to get my daily reading and writing done before the appointed hour. So I'm off to eat some chicken pot pie soup and drink sweet tea and get John Kennex's romantic notions rolling.
