Settle Down, Mulder

My teeth have begun to settle after a few days of rinsing with salt water. I have no doubt that the dentist will find another cavity or two, but with luck, it won't bankrupt me.

Today is a lazy futz day. Roomie has gone to pick up a pizza and some salad fixings, and we're going to stay home and veg and read and write and enjoy the view of the mountains from our sunroom window.

Speaking of reading, I'm still slogging through Germs Gone Wild, which has degenerated into a shrill morass of self-aggrandizement and wild-eyed, repetitive harangues about the government's refusal to listen to his concerns as a college professor in a completely unrelated field who had read "hundreds" of books and articles on the subject. I'm beginning to suspect most of these "articles" came from tinhat websites of dubious repute and alternative conspiracy papers with names like The Duluth Watchman and The Polaris Circle churned out by dudes who get their hot scoops from the radio static or the voices in the toaster.

It's no great mystery why this guy only wrote one book, and I bet Western Kentucky University was glad to be shut of him.
