Day 31 of the government shutdown.
Few things make you forget your fear of the dental needle like a bolt of true tooth pain. I was snarfing a bite of cookie cake last night when a piece brushed the side of my molar. And lo, I, who cannot walk, did try to arise and climb the wall. It was as though someone had connected it to an electrical socket.
Fortunately for me, one of the dentists I contacted got back to me and is likely going to fit me in tomorrow or the next day. It's not the fancy one who still uses nitrous, but he was going to come in on his day off until I told him it wasn't necessary, so I think we can get through it, and if not, at least he can get me something to take the edge off until I can get some sedatives and loll in the chair. As a bonus, he's a hardcore Trekkie, as in one of his former practices was called Starbase Dental, and he worked in a Starfleet uniform. Let's just hope he's as gentle as Bones.
