On the Edge of the Whirlwind

I have deep misgivings about Trump's speech tonight. I have a sinking suspicion that he intends to declare a national emergency in a bid to seize funding and possibly land for that shameful monument to his wizened penis, the border wall. If he does, civil liberties will be deeply imperiled, and I have given up all hope of the Republicans stepping in, even to save their own sorry hides, as it seems not to have dawned on any of them that if Trump destroys this country, there will be not even a carcass for them to pick, let alone a fiefdom for them to rule. Even if he doesn't destroy it outright, if he declares a national emergency and they do not oppose him with strong action, they will have shown themselves impotent and vestigial to the process of governance, and therefore, wholly expendable to both Trump and the American public, who has long suspected them of being a cabal of useless assholes sucking greedily on the public teat.

I also predict a freefall of the stock market, which will wipe out my trust. Huzzah! Tell me again, oh, miserable, tight-assed mother of mine(who gleefully voted for this monstrous piece of shit because white America!)why I shouldn't use the money to wring a few moments' joy out of this life because it would be irresponsible of me to fritter it away. But totally fine for government fuckery to do it for me because the good of the country comes first and we all have to make sacrifices. Except her, of course. She's worked hard all her life, and why should she have to give up a damn thing? Cow.

I hope I'm wrong; I hope this is so much nervous hand-wringing and all he does is fart into the microphone for eight minutes about how great he is and how only his wall can stop the ebil illegal immigrants and why won't those Commie Democrats listen to his super great ideas waaaah, but I fear that I'm not, and if not, this might be the beginning of the end of the American experiment.
