Roomie and I decided to have our Christmas as soon as midnight rolled around so we could be lazy on Christmas Day proper. In addition to the presents we bought ourselves and each other, my mother sent us a few gifts. She sent me some socks, a singing teddy bear with a fabulous hat who really is adorable, a Sonicare toothbrush(yay), and...a 9" Polaroid tablet. Research indicates that it's an entry-level model, but still, a tablet's a tablet. After years of recycled and "practical" gifts like fire extinguishers, I'm mystified by the sudden burst of extravagance.
In truth, Roomie will get more use out of it than me since tablets don't mix with spastic fingers and random jerks and twitches. Since his current PC is twelve years old, this is quite the upgrade, and now he can Skype with his friends and have a bit more privacy.

caecus_parvulus sent me some Rammstein swag and an absolutely gorgeous Tolkien dictionary; it's so gorgeous that it might just rival shirtless Rammgents in loveliness. Even Roomie, who is a casual LOTR fan, was impressed. Wow. Highlight of Christmas, I think.
