I'm just going to say it because it will make me feel better, and anyone who wishes to argue the point is welcome to do so: 90% of TalkCSI posters are fucking morons. Dutch_treat is a moron. JDonne writes like a fool, and her snark often crosses the line into libelous crudity. Case in point were her insinuations that Les Moonves was a misogynistic pig and Anthony Zuiker was a hebephile. Those were just...gross, and I thought such personal attacks were against board rules.
Those accusations might be true; I don't know. I do know that they're incompetent, as evinced that they would have us believe Lindsay Monroe is 24. AHAHAHAHA! Anna Belknap looks forty, and if Lindsay was supposed to be 24, they should have cast someone younger.
Aesthetics aside, let us consider the following:
1. Lindsay has been on the show for two years. That would have made her 22 when she started. Most folks don't graduate college until 21 or 22.
2. Even if Lindsay finished college at 21, she would still need to undergo training at the Police Academy, which is a protracted process that can take 1-2 years.
Let's say Lindsay finished in 1 year because she's special. That would make her 22.
3. The earliest point at which a police officer can be offered a detective's badge is 18 months on the job, and that is a rare occurence. To get a promotion to detective, an officer must do time on a specialized squad-NARC, VICE, street gangs-or make a giant bust on the streets and be recommended by their superiors.
4. Therefore, Lindsay would have been 24 when she was awarded her shield.
But there's a problem. Lindsay was a detective at 22 when she joined the squad, and as she so smugly told Danny, she'd worked as a CSI in Bozeman, Montana for several years before coming to New York.
Just for the sake of argument, let us say that several is a word which here means 2 years. That would mean she was working crime scenes at 20. AHAHAHAHA! No. Either she was a sophomore in college and processing crime scenes with no police training, or she just finished juco and forewent all that fancy forensics trainin'. After all, you don't need uppity papers to analyze cow turds.
In case anyone was wondering, I got my information on police procedure from Blue Blood, a book by NYPD homicide detective Edward Conlon, Jr.
