I have begun a more concerted effort to be active in CSI:NY fandom. My first step was to actually start posting at TalkCSI. The content is still predominantly comprised of squee, but at least they're having fun, and serious discussion does crop up from time to time.
Besides, my first contribution was hardly revolutionary. I wanted to know where Flack bought his clothes, and if anyone helped him shop. As I said on the board, his suits are well-cut, but they don't look tailor-made, and I'm betting he doesn't make enough to afford Armani. In one episode, Stella mentioned that she made just under $96,000 a year. Assuming Wikipedia is correct, and Stella and Flack are the same pay scale, does that mean Flack makes that amount, too, or does she earn more for being a l33t science nerd? I've always thought that Flack made roughly $60,000 a year. So, he's hardly in Guccis.
So where does an honest detective shop? I can't picture him puttering through Sears with a shopping cart, saying, "Ooh, Olive button-downs, three for twenty bucks. All I need to look really smokin' now are some paisley ties the color of baby vomit." And I honestly can't see him trying things on before buying. He's got guy things to do, like getting verklempt over motorcycles.
A few folks suggested his mom helped him shop, but I have my doubts. In fact, if he has a shopping buddy, I suspect it's Helen Keller because most of his outfits are both splendiferously ugly and excruciatingly LOUD. Don't believe me? Check out this ensemble:

Gah. That has guy written all over it. Honestly, I don't know why I'm thinking about this, since Flack, like most guys, probably only shops every three years or when his boxers get so threadbare that they disintegrate off his body.
