My apologies to anyone with whom I was conversing at 6PM EDT. I was sitting at the computer, lurking on my favorite sites, when the power went out. And came on. And went out. And came on. And went out. Came on. Out. On. And finally out for the better part of an hour. Roomie took me for a roll around the complex, and I chatted with some neighbors until the power came back to stay.
Is FA experiencing a fic backlog at the moment? I've noticed the lag time between submission and appearance onsite for my fics has increased from three days to seven and counting, and I doubt my technical proficiency with the comma and the period has deteriorated so egregiously as to warrant special scrutiny. To be fair, it does say that an upload may take up to ten days, but it never has before for any of my fics or chapters. If the fic doesn't make its star turn soon, I'll don my patented spooge-resistant hip-waders and reconnoiter a bit.
On the HP fandom front, SLS 53 is burbling happily along at last, and I'm pinning my hopes on it hitting the Web in fourteen days. Happy Belated Birthday to my faithful, eternally patient readers(I hope). I also have
hexennacht's Georgefic, a Dudleyfic, A Snape one-shot, and a Super Sekrit Project in various stages of planning, outlining, or completion.
And lastly, I occasionally visit Ouch!, the BBC's disability website, and while there last night, I found this delicious scrap of snark in reference to the statue of a disabled pregnant woman that was erected in Trafalgar Square:
However, I'd stop well short of saying that disability is 'bad'. I'd also stop short of saying it is 'good'. It just is. I'm also fairly sure that no one is pushing 'disabilities' as something to which we should aspire - although I would like to see that advertisement:
"Are you tired of life? Not feeling fulfilled? Then why not try being disabled! Our operators are standing by to remove one of your limbs. Call today for a free trial, and find out what you should be missing!".
God, I love British snark.
