Freedom Tastes like Sweet Barbecue Wings and Chili

The yoke of higher education has been cast aside for two glorious weeks! I turned in my papers this afternoon, and I am free until the summer session begins. I foresee much ficcing during my hiatus, and if the grades I received on the first papers I handed in are any indication, I deserve it. An A+, three As, and an A-. Booyah~ ~Butt shake of total victory~

To celebrate, I'll be watching Mythbusters, CSI: Gary Sinise, Good Eats, and Animal Face-off. I will also be finishing up SLS51, which will be posted on Thursday. It's essentially done now, but I like to let it sit overnight and read it the next day. If it still feels good, it goes up. If not, I perform the writerly equivalent of banging on it with a wrench until the clanking stops and try again. I'm sorry for the nine-week wait, but I was busy perfecting my academia fu. Sensei Guera is now free, however, to get down with her bad self with this here keyboard.

I have already made the decision not to retcon SLS' internal canon to fit any revelations from HPB. I introduced elements from OOTP into it when that came out, and it irked quite a few of my readers, who thought the Umbridge subplot was unnecessary, and while I think she dovetails nicely with the arc I'd planned, I know that any attempt to incorporate future canon would result in my fic's utter collapse beneath its own weight. So, as of July 16, SLS will become even more AU than it is now.
